"Venter and scientists at the National Institutes of Health recently announced that they had put together a draft of the entire sequence of the human genome, and the researchers unanimously declared that there is only one race - the human race." - from "Race is an Unscientific Concept, Experts Say" by Natalie Angier, New York Times
"We must come to the point where we realize the concept of race is a false one. There is only one race, the human race." - Dan Aykroyd
"If a pale-skin and a dark-skin can come together and bare a brown-skin, there should be no debate. There is no such thing as race. It is an artificial social construct invented by the ruling classes in their effort to create an enduring and easily enforceable power structure. We are, in fact, one Human Family. When we all finally realize this, the game is over for those ruling classes." - Kent Allen Halliburton

Seven years later, the situation has not changed. In fact, it has only gotten worse. The number of crimes committed against African Americans, by white lawmen, in the past five years, alone, should make people with a conscience angry enough to do something. As of the beginning of July of this year, one-hundred and thirty-six African Americans had lost their lives at the hands of American police officers, most all of whom were white. This would, of course, not include recent murders. One might ask, "Why does this have to include race? People get killed by the police all of the time. Don't more white people get killed by the police anyways?" In just 2016, alone, it is, in fact, true that, numerically, more white people have been shot and killed by the police. Why then is racism still part of the equation then? Consider the fact that those people who identify as white make up roughly sixty-three percent of the American population. Now, consider the fact that those people who identify as African American only make up roughly thirteen percent of the American population. Consider the secondary factor. This means that as a per capita of their respective populations, African Americans are suffering a much higher rate of loss than are whites. Now, also consider the fact that most of the shootings of African American citizens have been at the hands of white officers, as has already been stated. This makes for a big problem. Consider, also, some other important details. African Americans are more likely to be pulled over than are whites. African Americans are more likely to be stopped and frisked than are whites. African Americans are more likely to be questioned by the police than are whites, and worst of all, African Americans are more likely to have force used against them by the police than are whites. See, what a lot of people cannot seem to factor in are all of the beatings that are suffered by African Americans each day. One of the most interesting things that continues to boggle the minds of many intelligent people is the fact that these details have caught so many people my surprise. Police misconduct like what is being shown in the news media now, is nothing new. It has been going on for a very long time. Here's the kicker, mobile smart phones with high definition recording devices on them. That's it. People are just able to catch these crooked cops in the act before they have a chance to lie and cover their actions up. Race aside for a second, way to many people are being killed by the police in this country. These are the people that are supposed to protect and serve their communities, not depopulate them. Police brutality has got to end. Now, back to the original program. Consider mandatory minimum sentencing laws; they are racist, as all hell. African Americans get longer sentences for lesser crimes. The drugs most used by African Americans get the longest sentences, and African Americans are much less likely to be approved for parole on any given charge. So, from suspicion of criminal activity, to arrest, to release from prison, African Americans are targeted for harsher treatment. This is racist, and there is no getting around it. There is no justifying it, and it must not be allowed to continue. All it takes is a little unity, people.
